Ethnology
The major of Ethnology was established in 2002, within the School of Mongolian Studies, and started recruiting undergraduates and master students from then on. From July 2007, the major has become the Department of Ethnology and been subordinated to the School of Ethnology and Sociology. Nowadays, the major has the authorization to grant doctoral, master and bachelor's degree.
The Ethnology major learns experiences of curriculum construction from various influential domestic and international universities and considers the history and cultures of Mongols as well as the economic and social demands of Inner Mongolia region As a result, it attempts to offer courses of Basic Major Courses, Core Major Courses, Elective Courses and Social Practical Courses.
The teaching and research team at Ethnology major is composed of 10 faculties, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, and 3 lecturers. They all graduated from domestic and international famous universities.
The Ethnology major has achieved a series of results in discipline construction. In 2007, the major was rated as the Key Cultivating Discipline of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region while the Brand Discipline of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region was authorized in 2013; the major courses teaching team of Ethology was awarded as the Province-level teaching team;the course of Ecological Anthropology has been rated as Model Curriculum of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; the curriculum construction of Ethnology was awarded the first prize of Inner Mongolia University and the second prize of Inner Mongolia Autonomous
Region; it also ranked the sixth among Ethnology discipline in China during the evaluation conducted by the Educational Bureau in 2012.
